How to Budget for an Interior Design Project

Oh boy... Money talk.  Well, just wait! This stuff is important, and will help you financially plan for things you want.  You have beautiful ideas for your home, but you have absolutely no idea where to start with a budget.  How do you make it make sense? There a couple "rules of thumb" that you can apply to your budget to get started.  So let's just dive right in!

Method #1: If you are looking for a full-home renovation (furnishings, build outs, the whole bit), you should budget anywhere between 25% and 7% of your home's value.  It simple depends on how high-end, or economical, you want to go.

Method #2: A much less mathematical method is simply to begin by pricing out your non-negotiable needs and wants.  See where that gets you, and go down the list of importance from there.  Eventually, you will hit a number that makes you say, "yep, that's enough money now."

Method #3: Have your designer look at your space and tell you what THEY would do to the room and how much they believe it would cost. This is a good way to go about it if you yourself have zero idea about where to start.
